Web Galleries and Slideshows

If you plan to include sets of images in your website, web galleries and slideshows can display your images very effectively.

Web galleries and slideshows are usually designed as full-pages, stand-alone features, but they can also be integrated inside a web-page alongside other contents such as text and graphics.

Although there are technically no limit to the number of images you can display in either galleries or slideshows, please note that the more images there are, the longer the gallery or slideshow will take to load fully for viewing. When the waiting time becomes excessive, people are likely to move on thinking there is a problem with the page...

WEB GALLERIES:

Web Galleries can be given different styles and transition modes to suit the images being displayed and the style of the website.

These images galleries show how different styles and image transition modes can be applied to complement the type of images you wish to display. The size of the thumbnails and the size of the enlargements can be customised to your preferences - although the size and proportions of monitor screens should be considered...

SLIDESHOWS:

Sideshows can be designed with a Control Panel - as shown in our examples. This is a useful feature but isn't mandatory.

The Control Panel in our slideshow examples gives access to:

From the left:

• 1st icon opens a navigation menu, ie links to other galleries or webpages
• 2nd icon: display or hide the thumbnails.
  When the Thumbnails Panel is open, it can be positioned anywhere on the screen (click-hold-drag)
• The Thumbnail Panel makes it possible to 'jump' to a chosen image (and skip the others) by clicking on its thumbnail
• Arrows: allow to navigate backwards, forwards, pause and restart the slideshow

Different backgrounds and styles have been used - these are fully customisable to match the style of your website.

• KENYA
  
  All the images used for this slideshow have the same orientation (landscape) and the same size. This enables the smoothest transition from one image to the next. When possible, using landscape images will give a more effective display as this format fits better on a monitor screen - having to scroll vertically can be a bit troublesome. However, this doesn't mean that portrait images can't be used!
  
  
• CHINA
  
  In contrast with the Kenya Slideshow, the China Slideshow example displays images of varying dimensions and orientation - a mixture of portrait and landscape photographs). The transitions are not as smooth as in the Kenya Slideshow and are a little slower due to the resizing of each image.
  
  The China Slideshow has been grouped into sets - accessible via the thumbnails Panel. With the Thumbnail Panel closed, the slideshow displays each image in the programmed sequence. Opening the Thumbnails Panel reveals the different sets in which the images have been grouped. It is possible to 'jump' directly to view any one set in particular.
